Whether you’re wetting the baby’s head, toasting the newly weds or celebrating the new job (do we really need an excuse?) impress your friends with this selection of easy, yet unusual cocktail recipes that you can make at home for your next shindig.
For those on the lookout for something new and unusual, we’ve got you covered (with some die hard classics thrown into the mix too because, well, why not?) and if you’re looking to swerve the hangover we’ve got some standout virgin cocktails too.
IMPRESS YOUR FRIENDS WITH THESE COCKTAILS TO MAKE AT HOME:
3 tbsp Two Drifters Distillery Spiced Rum
Wedge of lime,
Wedge of orange
2 slices of root ginger
Method: Measure the three tablespoons of spiced rum into a tumbler with ice. Fill with ginger beer.
Garnish: Wedge of lime, wedge of orange and 2 slices of root ginger
1x bottle Small Beer Lager
Garnish of your choosing
Method: Combine and mix
Garnish: Our go to is a wedge of orange
75ml Pentire Seaward
50ml Fresh Grapefruit Juice
1 tsp Honey
100ml Soda Water or Light Tonic
Method: Pour the ingredients listed above into a highball glass or wine glass full of ice.
Garnish: Grapefruit Wedge and/or Bay Leaf.
3 strawberries (remove stems and leaves)
Freshly ground black pepper
A few basil leaves
50ml Graveney gin
Tonic water or soda – your choice
Method: Slice the strawberries into quarters and muddle with a good twist of freshly ground black pepper and basil in a shaker, then pour into an ice-filled glass. Stir in the gin and top with tonic.
60 ml Sparkling water
10 ml Lime juice
15 ml Sugar Water
12 Fresh mint leaves
½ Lime in parts
Method: Put the mint leaves, lime parts and sugar water in a glass and muddle. Add Gimber, lime juice and crushed ice. Top with sparkling water
Garnish: Fresh mint and dried ginger
100 ml Original Spiced Rum
50 ml Cocchi Americano
25ml Banane du Bresil
15ml Crème de Cacao
Method: Pour this mixture into 50ml of coconut milk and stir together. Leave to settle for 12 hours and strain the drink twice through the same coffee filter. You should be left with a clear liquid. Stir down the drink over ice then strain into a Nick + Nora glass.
Shelf life: 1 week.
