Welcome to Wonderwalls
Until March 2020 I was up to my eyeballs in my usual corporate graphic design work. Then the COVID-19 pandemic struck and it hit me hard. At the time we were trying to move my then 3-year old from the nursery into a new 'big boy' bedroom and both spaces lacked personality.
I decided to dust down the iMac and get to work on a range of graphics that felt a bit more design-led and sophisticated. Its that classic cliché but friends and family started asking for copies and that's when Wonderwalls was born.
My colours are fun but slightly muted, my fonts are sophisticated but big and my imagery is bold yet very graphic. Basically, I'm searching for that perfect formula of creating something for kids that grown-ups love too.
Prints & products for kids and their grown-ups.
Becoming a parent was like being given access to a secret club where fellow parents give you a knowing glance or a helping hand and I'm trying to capture that feeling of 'We're all in this together'.
My mum died just before my eldest was 6 months old and luckily I had just about enough time to properly thank her for everything she had done for me and my brothers. I had probably told her something along those lines loads of times, but this time it was real, it was coming from my own experience as a new parent. This sort of emotion is what I'm trying to put across in print and that can't be faked.
